Redact / Blur Image

Hide sensitive information in an image by drawing black-out or blur boxes over it. The redaction is painted permanently into the downloaded image, with no recoverable layer. Everything happens in your browser — your image is never uploaded.

🔒 Runs 100% in your browser — nothing is uploaded

About the image redaction tool

Hide sensitive information in a screenshot or photo before you share it. Drag boxes over the parts you want to remove — names, account numbers, faces, addresses — and choose a solid black-out (safest) or a blur. The redaction is painted straight into the downloaded image’s pixels, so there is no hidden layer to recover, unlike highlighting in a PDF viewer. It all runs in your browser, so your image is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. The image is loaded and edited entirely in your browser with an HTML canvas — it never leaves your device, so sensitive screenshots and documents stay private.

Is the hidden information really gone?

Yes. The redacted areas are painted over (or blurred) directly into the downloaded image’s pixels. Unlike a highlighter in a PDF viewer, there is no hidden layer underneath to recover. Black-out is the safest choice for truly sensitive data.

Black-out or blur — which should I use?

Use black-out for anything truly private (names, account numbers, faces, addresses). Blur looks softer but can sometimes be partially reversed, so prefer black-out when it really matters.

What formats can I use?

JPG and PNG images. The cleaned image is downloaded as a PNG so the redaction is baked in losslessly.
